We all know that reviews are now the lifeblood of business; Amazon and Tripadvisor have ingrained this into our search patterns. But, for business owners, are Google My Business Reviews Or Facebook Reviews the best solution for your business?
Your New Client’s Journey
To consider whether Google My Business Reviews or Facebook Reviews are the best, we first need to consider your potential new client’s journey.
Let’s say you are a financial adviser. Your business is recommended to someone so they head to do some research of your company name. They google your business name and the word ‘reviews’ and are redirected to your Facebook reviews page. They like what they see and give you a call.
This process works well for someone who is already looking for your business name, or does it?
When this prospect is doing their research, they will naturally start at Google, not facebook, as we all do when looking for a service provider.
When they type in your company name and the word ‘reviews’, not only will they see the google search results, but more likely than not, because they entered the search term “ABC financial advisers Bristol reviews”, they will also be presented with reviews of other financial advisers in Bristol in the Google Maps listing that will be presented to them.
If you don’t have any Google My Business Reviews but your competitors do, there is a chance that your lovely new prospect will now head off to look at some of your competitors, especially if they have lots of lovely 5 star reviews next to their business name.
You have now potentially gone from being ‘one of one’ in the search for a financial adviser to ‘one of many’.
Is that where you want to be?
Google My Business Reviews
If you focus on collecting Google My Business Reviews, and focus on collecting a lot of them, you have the potential to not only convert those people who are already looking for your business name, but you also have one massive, hidden, profitable benefit over facebook reviews; you can win new clients who are looking for your services in your location.
If you focus on collecting Google My Business Reviews, you have the opportunity to be regularly found (and contacted) by people looking for your services in or around your location.
People who have never heard of your business can head off to Google to start their search, for example:
Bristol Financial Advisers
and now when presented with the search results they will see, prominently displayed at the top of the search results, the Google My Business Reviews displayed next to Google Maps as you can see below:
You can see from the above that the Bristol Financial Advisers need to do some work to improve their reviews!
If you have put in place a system for collecting Google My Business Reviews consistently, as all members of my More Clients Academy have done so by following my training on this, then you will be prominently featured in the search results and have more reviews than your competitors, meaning that you now find yourself in a race of ‘one of one’ to win new business from someone who, until moments ago, had never heard of your business.
Conclusion – Google My Business Reviews v Facebook Reviews – Google Wins The Best Of Competition
Facebook reviews can only help people who are already looking for your business to decide whether or not to use your business.
Google My Business, however, has the potential to allow other people looking for your services to find you every single day, every single week and every single month. It is not only a great way of convincing people who already know about your business to get in touch, but allows people to find you who have never heard of you before!
Many of my clients who follow my training on Google My Business inside the More Clients Academy, regularly win new business straight from their Google My Business listings.
