2004
I started my business growth consultancy in 2003, and from 2004 I have worked extensively inside the wonderful platform which is Google Ads.
At first, I dabbled.
As an Easy Life Client Attraction specialist, I recognised that Google Ads / PPC fitted my modus operandi perfectly:
Getting my clients in front of their ideal prospects at the precise moment in time that they are ready to buy their services.
So I knew how powerful PPC was for lead generation of prospects with the all important Buyer Intent, so I would introduce my clients to PPC, then ask a local agency to run my campaigns for them.
However, I soon realised that I still had to step in to help the agency by:
- Suggesting tweaks and improvements to the Ad Copy
- Improving the landing pages that they were sending the visitors to
- Improving my clients conversion processes so that more leads turned into paying clients
The final jump to becoming a full time PPC Specialist came when I launched a major UK wide legal brand. I went to a top London digital marketing agency, expecting wondrous results.
The same thing happened as before: I had to keep stepping in to improve the campaign to make it work harder across all aspects of it.
I took the campaign back under my control and have specailised in PPC/ Google Ads since then, around 2008.
Helping My Clients As A PPC Specialist
In hindsight, I realise how much those digital marketing agencies did me such a big favour. Forcing me to become an expert in PPC has helped my clients over the years to generate many more clients and dramatically increase their turnover.
Now, when someone types in Managed Service Provider near me, Life Coach Reading or Conveyancing Solicitors Manchester, my clients to pop up in front of them, their Ad Copy to speaks to the prospect to encourage them to click through to their website, and their website makes it incredibly easy for them to get in touch to discover more about working with them.
The process works from start to finish, meaning my clients generate a healthy return on investment (ROI) from their PPC spend.
What Is A Healthy ROI With PPC?
Some clients have it easier than others when it comes to ROI.
For example, some of my clients sell a service with a monthly retainer. All they need to do is break even on their monthly spend and then from month two they are in profit.
Other clients, selling one off services, I like to start by aiming for a 3:1 return on investment, then work on improving it from there.
Some of my clients pass 50 to 1 in ROI and beyond.
How Much PPC Spend Do I Manage?
I manage a spend ranging between £2-4 million per annum, by and large.
I have a small but perfectly formed team and only work with a set number of clients.
I do not want to change that, so I only work with clients who are a great fit for me.
Some clients spend a few thousand each month, others spend £10-100,000 per month because they have more mouths to feed (they need more clients each month).
The truth with Google Ads is generally that the more you spend, the more consistent your campaign becomes at making a brilliant ROI.
