I started my own consultancy business in 2003. Before that, I worked as a solicitor for 14 years. What I share with other owners of expert based businesses on this website and in my services for expert business owners is very simple: everything that I have learned about starting, running and growing an expertise based business.
Since year two I have run a six figure business. I don’t tell you this to brag, it isn’t yet seven figures so I don’t feel I have any bragging rights, but it is a solid six figure expert consultancy business (pounds, sterling).
I tell you this because I am well aware that there are a substantial volume of so called ‘experts’ out there who sell services and training for expert business owners showing them how to set up and grow their business, with many of them barely scraping past five figures.
You are an expert. You know your onions. You are good at what you do, you would just like a few more clients and more time to enjoy life.
You may be an architect, a business systemisation consultant, a coach, a copywriter, a graphic designer, an estate agent, a financial adviser, a HR consultant, a marketing consultant, a physiotherapist, a podiatrist, a recruitment consultant, a software developer, a surveyor, a website designer, a website developer; it doesn’t really matter which type of expert you are, just that you are an expert.
I don’t work with or advise people who ‘wannabe’ an expert, there are plenty of people selling that dream. You must already know what you are doing and just be keen to generate more clients for your expert business.
