I had some great responses to my question about why people have not yet started generating easy client instructions and referrals by using email marketing consistently.
This first one is a good one that I have heard at least 100 times before, so I am going to start with that:
“I haven’t started using email marketing yet because I think I should learn how to use facebook properly before that.”
If you have been thinking this too, I have some great news for you.
First, let me ask you a question.
If you wanted to catch a bus, would you run around until you saw one and hoped that you could find somewhere to get onto it, or would you head to a bus stop and wait there for it to come and collect you?
We are trained to do the latter, aren’t we? And with good reason too. It is simple.
You want a bus. You go to the bus stop and at some point, a bus comes.
Clients are the same too.
If you want a new client, or 10 new clients, I can promise you from managing a marketing spend of over £2,000,000 per annum, it will cost you considerably less and be hugely more successful if you use email marketing to win these clients than if you use facebook marketing.
You will know from your own experience and from having heard this many times before that it is 100 times easier to sell your services to former clients, unconverted prospects or to people referred by your clients than it is to sell to new ones. This is why email marketing is so effective. Email marketing is your bus stop!
With facebook people don’t know you, aren’t actively looking for your service and you have to compete for their attention with brands with much larger marketing budgets than yours. The people there are running around trying to find a bus but never visiting a bus stop. That’s tiring. I like an easy life not a hard one.
Email marketing beats facebook every time.
