What is this mysterious thing that increases the value of your business when you sell it?
When I reveal it, don’t dismiss this as it is based on cold, hard evidence.
I have worked closely with people that buy and sell business for a number of years, and they all say the same thing.
The value of your business when you sell it is determined by your profitability to date BUT ALSO the ability for the business to keep on generating sales when the new owner takes it over.
The thing that allows you to do both of these things is an email list, more specifically a growing email list that you communicate with consistently.
This is one of the main reasons that you absolutely MUST have an email list for your business, but there are so many more.
I want to share some of them with you, because it still appals me when I speak with so many service business owners who do not yet have an email database. It flabbergasts me, if I’m honest.
So, I am going to give you a lot of reasons why you must have an email list, but don’t worry, I won’t leave you there. I will then explain every aspect of email marketing that you need to know so that you can start to increase your profitability now and the profitability of your business in the future too.

By sending an email consistently, people begin to you fully understand your unique skills. You prove your expertise beyond any doubt!
2. You become the ONLY choice of service provider for your clients in your niche or category.
Your recipients begin to know, like and trust you, so that when they are looking for your service, you are the only person that they turn to for help. You wipe out your competition.
3. Price is not an issue
It removes that painful ‘price’ discussion. When people come to you because they have been reading your emails for a very long period of time, they are not shopping around. They are only speaking with you – this is such an important aspect of email marketing that nearly everyone misses!
4. You own your marketing platform – it cannot be taken away from you.
This one is huge. Massive. It really is number one, but I wanted to only reward those with the attention to read to this point with this priceless piece of information.
So often I meet service business owners who tell me that most of their work comes from LinkedIn, or Facebook, some even claim twitter.
The problem with this, aside from the fact that if it is true it shows me that there are far more cost effective ways for these business owners to win new clients, is that they do not own the platform which produces their new clients for them.
It puts their business in real jeopardy.
Nobody knows what will happen with any of these social media platforms. Overnight they could close down or completely change the way that they present information and you could become totally invisible.
You could go from one day having a steady stream of enquiries to the next having a phone that never rings.
This has already happened with facebook. Some people were receiving hundreds or thousands of clicks on their posts and then when facebook changed the way it displayed information, their visibility disappeared. Overnight.
With email marketing, you OWN your email list. It is your marketing asset. It cannot be taken away from you. Ever.
